The Assembly has a culture of an annual outreach activity through which it dialogues with the electorate including Chiefs and Traditional Authority, Local Government Authorities, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Community-based Organisations (CBOs), women and youth leaders. Such dialogues are primarily aimed at ensuring that the people are involved in decision making processes relevant to sustainable national development and that their priorities constitute the basis for the legislature to be better informed on its fundamental roles of national budget appropriation and monitoring, expenditure tracking and ensuring and enforcing transparency and accountability in accordance with specific National Constitutional Provisions.
One again, I wish you enjoyable and useful browsing.

History & Development of The Gambia Legislature
The Legislature of The Gambia or House of Representatives as it was then called is an old institution dating back to the early 1940s. With the adoption of the 1947 Sir Andrew Backworth Wright Constitution, representation began for the Gambian people on a small scale. This Constitution did not last long because it was revised in 1951 by The Gambia (legislative Council Amendment) Order in Council. The new Council include the Governor, three ex-official members, three appointed official members, four protectorate members and two elected members for Bathurst and one for Kombo St. Mary Division. A Vice-President was appointed by the Governor to preside on his behalf at proceedings of the Council.
